The return of the eyelash junkie

It was almost 3 - 4 years since I had my last eyelash extension.

I just had to because it was my best friend’s wedding

and I was one of the bridesmaids.

I had quit getting eyelashes extensions months before that. Why?
My real lashes were almost gone, while some left were either cut or damaged.
And the only way to have my eyelashes grow naturally is to give it a rest for years.

I am a self-confessed eyelash extension junkie.
I even took that seminar before when it was offered
during my makeup and hairstyling school days.

I’ve wanted to get another eyelash extensions for quite sometime
but this time I want it more natural,
unlike before, it’s too thick, too dark, and too black.

It’s just now that I’ve learned that some eyelash extension salons
are using synthetic materials.
It may look good in the camera
but it damages your lashes
at the same it looks too fake.

Researching on which salon offers the most natural
and eye friendly eyelash extension service.
And today I am happy to say that the eyelash junkie has return.

CosmoLash gives you the most natural looking eyelash extension services.
The procedure is about 40 -45 minutes.
They'll put a tape under your eyelid and on your upper lid.
You just have to lie down or take a nap probably.

You can find them at SM Supermalls

You can choose from the length and volume of the lashes to be used.
What type of effect you wanted to achieve.
A Cat / Seductive eye, a natural daily pretty eye. Glam one.
You can choose.

Care for your eyelash extension?

Do not rub them of course.
Careful with the shower temperature, too hold or too cold may tend to have those lashes fall off.
No mascara curler for now. (Which is favorable for me)
No using of false eyelashes or eyeliner.
Well you won't need it.
A retouch maybe needed in 3 weeks or a month's time depending on how you take care of them.

Simple as that. :-)

You get pretty - not sleepy looking eyes anytime of the day.

We all wanted to wake up daily looking pretty right away.
( unless you are already gifted with pretty lashes and a goddess looking face. ;p)

Peso power: 499 php
Duration of peso power spent: 4-6 weeks even up to 8 weeks.

Yep! 4 - 8 weeks of batting those pretty lashes and making pa-cute.

My brown eyes become instantly noticeable right away. Yay!

Rebel Rock (MOTD) + Mac Fashion Noise

Another look that is outside my comfort zone was done today.

I had this themed event of going Rock Rebel with full of teeners to begin with.

The first thing in mind with the other "bagets" is super dark eyes then black lips, black nailpolish etc etc which I cant go sport anymore and is not fit to carry that around.

So I went thru my makeup train case and totally remember ooops I have been disposing already almost all of my colored makeup tools and invested more on bridal tools as the nature of my job calls for. Im glad I still have a few of the bib necklaces that was in trend 2 years ago in my styling boxes.

MAC Fashion Noise Lipstick is an amplified lipstick collection of MAC's Fall 2013 Forecast lipstick.

Glad that I found out I still have a few of colored makeups set aside.

MAC Fashion Noise lipstick.

Mac Fashion Noise is an Amplified type of mac lippie that is of royal purple.

I love amplified lipstick  as the color payoff is so bright and nice.

I have short hair lately and there is nothing much of hairstyling that you can do instead, i went for a slick hairstyle one sided.

MAC Fashion Noise (Amplified)

One of my bib necklace collection that completed my look.

Rim upper and lower waterline with black eyeliner.
Work with a simple 2-3 theme of eyeshadow, mine I just went for the mocha and chocolate browns.
Work with a neat eyebrows.
Then go with your chosen lip shade.

You have to make sure you did a good skin base and contouring so It wont looked too draggy or dirty emo.

Rebel looking or Rock Chic looking makeup doesn't always have to all black or draggy.

You can still infuse your personality and style.

So how do you interpret your own Rebel Rock look? Please share.

Sharing Skin-tastic

I may get eyebrows raised on this post as I am not the perfect candidate for a flawless skin.
I am posting my skincare product I swear by as I prep my skin for my upcoming red carpet on-to-the altar walk.
I was asked thru facebook by a friend If what are the items I used, most probably because they have seen improvements and great results, so I may not be perfect candidate since I dont have the perfect flawless porcelain skin tight face but I think I am the best candidate when It comes to turnaround from a problematic skin to a picture perfect happy face.
And so I am sharing this.

Plus every time I do trial makeup and facial charting with my brides, I would still encounter those who doesn't care for their skin.
Let me say it straight, "Dirty Yucky Skin"
But we cannot complain of course, but please remember we are makeup artist not your dermatologist or facialist ;-)

Aside from hiring your "this it" best makeup artist in the metro, we, brides-to-be should not have this attitude of "oh! ill leave it to my makeup artist to make me beautiful"

Do yourself a favor actually, not your makeup artist.
Love your skin.
We can only make you more beautiful on your big day but remember a good radiant skin that glows from within, a well rested skin plus a clean - healthy glow still would stand out the best together with makeup.

Remember a dirty face, from pores to skin when piled with makeup results to ashy finish and oxidizes makeup as quickly as 30 minutes, its not your makeup artist fault its actually how your skin reacts.

You are a girl and as expected you have to be clean. ;-)

Anyway, here are my skin care routine and product that I have been using that works for me.

1. Organic cleanser for acne prone skin.
I am acne prone, I have a very sensitive and active oil glands. I have tried so many of like this and this is my 2nd bottle already which means I score fair to this.
We've been together since: 2010

2. Facial Wash - Ponds Deep Cleansing Facial Wash.
You will see this on every sink in the house, I have one for each. This is the only facial wash I am compatible with. Actually other Ponds facial wash gives me irritation.
And other facial wash brands too. So I am sticking to this one. You'll see one my bag too, every time I feel so clogged or heavy I just wash my face to make me feel refreshed.
We've been together since: 2008

3. Apricot Scrub - Do your purifying wash of your face probably twice a week. To remove deep seated dirt, plus it gently scrubs off dead - dull skin and restores new one that will give you that healthy glow.
We've been together since: Highschool

4. Mud Mask - Mine is peppermint. I love the cold minty feeling plus peppermint helps minimizes my pores. The smell gives you that spa feeling that calms you from within too.
Mud Masking at home can be done once a week or every 2 weeks. Do it while watching TV or just answering emails.
Careful not to over mud mask, it can leave your skin a stripped off feeling.
Mud - Masking and I have been together since: College ( i only stopped when I was pregnant before)

5. Toner - I'm sure you have heard me hundred of times saying to Tone Tone Tone.
I learned this in makeup school before, to take care of your skin, you must Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize.
Never to skip a beat. And the result pays off. You may not have that perfect porcelain skin tight face but you may have that bright radiant face, because you have religiously do the toning. This one I carry in my bag in case I wash my face on location, I have another one at home.

Toner and I have been together since: makeup class student days though I only have been diligent and religious about it around 2011. And now I appreciate its result.

6. Moisturizer - Remember the Cleanse - Tone - Moisturize regimen. Find the perfect moisturizer that your skin needs, if you're oily, dry, combination, sensitive. And when you find the one, I'm pretty sure you'll never let it go.
Mine is the Pore Diet to help me out shrink out my pores plus its a velvety finish that becomes a primer at the same time.
Too bad this is my last bottle and Etude's phased this one out. I will have to search for my replacement moisturizer soon.
We've been together since: 2007

7. Serum - I used a serum only once a week but I know it should be like every night. I would still have to control how the oil produces on my skin that's why. But a serum is already a must for me as I've noticed. With the nature of my work, always out in the sun, smog, pollution, dirt, wind ( I don't just work in hotel preps in wedding alone ok!) plus I am not getting any younger, all the stress that can attribute to my face is not what I need on my big day.
We've been together since: 2011 (the day I turned 30 ;-p)

So how about you?
What are your current skin care regimen.
Care to share them too?

Ooohh! Healthy Glow

So I am a fan of creating “that healthy glow”
You can see that almost in all the makeup photos I have been posting.
Well maybe I had a phase in my highschool life and during my pregnancy stage where i truly had a bad unhealthy skin.

Makeup artists’ always have their own trademark or so called makeup style.

I admire my former teacher’s “unkaVogueable” eyebrows style.
I did try to apply it on my style but then found my own way of doing eyebrows.

I like another mentor’s style of doing the super diva lips.
I applied the tricks he taught me and made a little twitch on my own style that worked for me.

I always tell my makeup students that every makeup artist has their own style, this is the reason they are always immersed in different projects and trainings.

To work with other artist, to find their own trademark. I hope they always learn in every event they do and never forget that.

And if you are a budding artist to be or simply a makeup enthusiast, don’t be shy to ask artists and stylists, learn from them, be nice, be friendly, open up and tell them, they would love to take a breather from their work and hear your stories and would be very open to share their trade secrets. Buzz them on facebook, say hello to them in events or parties.

Now back to the healthy glow tip, my style, my trademark, as I got 3 facebook private messages and friendly chitchat while working backstage asking me how I do it.
And if you like them, then maybe you can apply it to your own makeup style too.

Here’s the trick.
1.       Always start with a very clean base / face.
Every artist and client I worked with knows I am very meticulous on this and I take so much time on this. My students would at times hear me saying it a gazillion times to them while in class, “always make sure you work with a clean SKIN Step” (I am referring to the Prepping, concealing, foundation, setting and 3D or 5D contouring) before playing with colors. Your very expensive lipstick or eye shadows are worthless if your skin base is wacked off.
I always worry to those other makeup artist who is investing in wrong items. Invest in good skin base items. Its not necessarily the most expensive ones, but items that works for you best that you can manipulate on your client face. And please never ever go drugstore or bazaar or tiangge fake powders and base. No. No. No. Remember skin cancer reaction soon.

2.       Have a good skin highlighter.

This is my healthy glow secret it.
After the skin steps I did. I applied a good skin highlighter at the highest peak of the cheeks. I blend it well and let it dry including the entire skin steps. Its good to let the skin absorb creams or liquid you put on the face first and let the natural skin acidity works before putting on colors and powders. So wait for like a minute or two.
While doing that, prepare your coloring items now or clean your brushes that you have just used. Remember that synthetic brushes dries up the liquid and cream right away and builds bacteria fast which causes zits and breakouts. Plus it’s hard to work on when a dry up silicone based cosmetic sticks to your brushes, that’s where the clumping and not so fine results get in.

3.       Setting everything.

Use an anti-perspire or oil control translucent colorless powder in order it will not interfere with skin basing. You don’t want your work to look like a ghost or geisha don’t you ;-)

4.       Set again, this time with dual powder.

5.       Work with your style of coloring.

Coloring means, your blush, your lipstick your eye colors. Anything that has got to do with colors.

For blush, use a matte peach tone (no shimmer) blush on the apples of the cheeks, with just 2 applications only and nothing more than that. We are achieving that healthy nude glow cheeks, remember

On the hollows of the cheeks, you may opt for the blush you choose as long as you dont go over the matte peach you placed on the apples of your cheeks. Application can be 3-4.

6.       Finish off with a Tea Tree bronzer for a not so sparkly bronzy glow but a healthy from within glow.

Materials – What are they?

1.       Cream based or liquid based Highlighter as base – go for a yellow based item. Remember Asians are mostly yellow undertones. No to pink undertones please. ;-)

2.       Highlighter Setter – it’s an orangey – corally powder setter you will see in the market and combined with green based powder.

3.       Skin Steps: Work with your skin type, if you’re oily, go for mattifying toner and moisturizer, but be sure you work at the TZone only the rest of your face do not actually produce that must oil and you tend to peel off if you do so.

Let me know if you have products questions, buzz me, tweet me up or write me up.

See all common denominator on the cheeks, and i love it especially when camera and lights strikes them, whether its DSLR, iPhone Cam, or just Digicam. You will see that glow.

Chanel Insolente and Instinctive

I know I have posted this on my tumblr last Christmas after I opened my gifts.
Cross posting to my blog space now.

Chanel Insolente
Chanel Instinctive

My hubby is the sweetest. One of those gifts I opened last Christmas.

Here is a closer look of Insolente, its more like of a watermelon pink.
See evidence that I have been using them the entire holiday glam season.

and here is Instinctive.
This is heaven sent to me since I am about to consume already my Mac Peachstock tube.
Its Velvety-like so its not drying and my fave nude lipcolor is always of peach-tone not the brown ones.
See evidence as well of over-usage. ;-)

when it comes to Chanel, there is always that special place in my heart.

what's inside my retouch bag.
All for the love of Chanel.

A big smile is on my face again.

Let me know what other lipcolor you think is a Must Have.
Ill share my discovery and fave's in the coming entries.
