Lifestyle Core Fitness

It's not enough to do abs crunches or sit ups.
You need to exercise a variety of muscles from legs to arms to hips to shoulder.
I am not your best teacher for this. But core fitness has been beneficial to my everyday
work activity.

Core Strength Fitness is fitness from within.

What we have here are core resistance tubes in color coded strength:
Red for Light
Gray for Meduim
Blue for Heavy

We will use the light strength for now and move on to medium once we are toner and stronger in the coming weeks.

May you be a working professional, or a freelance do-everything yourself girl like me or a supermom to your super kids and full time wifey and in-charge of the house.
Take some quick time to some quick strength exercise daily.

Some benefits of good core strength:

1.) a strong core reduces back pain
(i am a full time makeup artist and designer - stylist, this is one major ouchie we normally feel esp if we run here and there on our heels or big styling luggages or makeup trolley.)

2.) A strong core improves athletic performance

3.) a strong core improves postural imbalance

4.) a strong core develops functional fitness and protect you from injuries

Here are a few things you may need for your daily activity.

A weighing scale for record.
I used to be 122lbs, now Im down to 115 lbs unless this machine is broken. lol! ;p

your trusty rubber shoes, or you can go barefoot, but if you are going running like what I do you need your trusty rubber shoes.

a good support socks, your comfy gym pants, some core fitness resistance tubes, your mat and belt.
So lets go, lets help each other and do this activity together.
All fab wifey and mommies out there. Ladies are tough woman that no one can topple them down. ;-)

1.) Chest Press -up

Lie on a floor mat with your knees up.
Place the resistance tubes around your back.
hold the handles on each side of your chest then press upward.
Keep your elbows slightly bent while doing the upward press, then lower them down slowly until your upper arms are parallel to the floor.
Exhale as you press up and inhale as you lower your arms down.
Repeat 10 - 12 times, as much as possible, without stopping.

2. Biceps Curl

In a comfortable stance with the resistance band anchored under your feet, hold one end of the resistance tube in each hand. Slowly bend your elbows, curling your hands up toward your shoulders. The palms of your hands should be facing your shoulders.
Repeat 10 - 12 times, as much as possible without stopping.

Using your left arm, pull one end of the resistance tube while the other end is being stepped on by your left foot. Make sure to parallel the resistance tube with your leg during exercise. Keep your back straight. Repeat 10 - 12 times. Repeat the whole process on your right side.

With band anchored under your feet, slowly lift both arms directly out to the side until your arms are parallel with the floor while exhaling. Keeping your elbows slightly bent as you lower your arms back down.
Repeat 10 - 12 times, if possible without stopping.

Lie on the floor mat. tuck the tube under your left foot. hold the handles of the tube and slowly stretch both arms directly out to the side until your arms are parallel with the floor while exhaling. Lift your left foot up at the same time. Repeat 10 - 12 times as much as possible without stopping, then repeat the whole process on the right foot.

Back and lat pull

Sit on the floor mat with your legs straight apart. Tuck the tubes under your feet while your hands hold one end one each end. Exhale as you pull up and inhale as you lower your arms. Repeat 10 - 12 time, as much as possible , without stopping.

Cool down with some hula love
for the belly and back.

You can do this routine when watching TV, early morning before getting your shower before going to work or meeting to give you all the hyped energy you need.

I may not have the perfect ideal body a 30 year woman is but I sure do have all the pump up energy that I needed everyday with my crazy call sheets and schedule.
Plus all the eating daily that I get, its good to know I have something to balance it out and not do the starving diet option.

How about you, what is your fitness routine that you can share with me/ us?
I will share with you other activities I do in the coming entries.

Sharing Skin-tastic

I may get eyebrows raised on this post as I am not the perfect candidate for a flawless skin.
I am posting my skincare product I swear by as I prep my skin for my upcoming red carpet on-to-the altar walk.
I was asked thru facebook by a friend If what are the items I used, most probably because they have seen improvements and great results, so I may not be perfect candidate since I dont have the perfect flawless porcelain skin tight face but I think I am the best candidate when It comes to turnaround from a problematic skin to a picture perfect happy face.
And so I am sharing this.

Plus every time I do trial makeup and facial charting with my brides, I would still encounter those who doesn't care for their skin.
Let me say it straight, "Dirty Yucky Skin"
But we cannot complain of course, but please remember we are makeup artist not your dermatologist or facialist ;-)

Aside from hiring your "this it" best makeup artist in the metro, we, brides-to-be should not have this attitude of "oh! ill leave it to my makeup artist to make me beautiful"

Do yourself a favor actually, not your makeup artist.
Love your skin.
We can only make you more beautiful on your big day but remember a good radiant skin that glows from within, a well rested skin plus a clean - healthy glow still would stand out the best together with makeup.

Remember a dirty face, from pores to skin when piled with makeup results to ashy finish and oxidizes makeup as quickly as 30 minutes, its not your makeup artist fault its actually how your skin reacts.

You are a girl and as expected you have to be clean. ;-)

Anyway, here are my skin care routine and product that I have been using that works for me.

1. Organic cleanser for acne prone skin.
I am acne prone, I have a very sensitive and active oil glands. I have tried so many of like this and this is my 2nd bottle already which means I score fair to this.
We've been together since: 2010

2. Facial Wash - Ponds Deep Cleansing Facial Wash.
You will see this on every sink in the house, I have one for each. This is the only facial wash I am compatible with. Actually other Ponds facial wash gives me irritation.
And other facial wash brands too. So I am sticking to this one. You'll see one my bag too, every time I feel so clogged or heavy I just wash my face to make me feel refreshed.
We've been together since: 2008

3. Apricot Scrub - Do your purifying wash of your face probably twice a week. To remove deep seated dirt, plus it gently scrubs off dead - dull skin and restores new one that will give you that healthy glow.
We've been together since: Highschool

4. Mud Mask - Mine is peppermint. I love the cold minty feeling plus peppermint helps minimizes my pores. The smell gives you that spa feeling that calms you from within too.
Mud Masking at home can be done once a week or every 2 weeks. Do it while watching TV or just answering emails.
Careful not to over mud mask, it can leave your skin a stripped off feeling.
Mud - Masking and I have been together since: College ( i only stopped when I was pregnant before)

5. Toner - I'm sure you have heard me hundred of times saying to Tone Tone Tone.
I learned this in makeup school before, to take care of your skin, you must Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize.
Never to skip a beat. And the result pays off. You may not have that perfect porcelain skin tight face but you may have that bright radiant face, because you have religiously do the toning. This one I carry in my bag in case I wash my face on location, I have another one at home.

Toner and I have been together since: makeup class student days though I only have been diligent and religious about it around 2011. And now I appreciate its result.

6. Moisturizer - Remember the Cleanse - Tone - Moisturize regimen. Find the perfect moisturizer that your skin needs, if you're oily, dry, combination, sensitive. And when you find the one, I'm pretty sure you'll never let it go.
Mine is the Pore Diet to help me out shrink out my pores plus its a velvety finish that becomes a primer at the same time.
Too bad this is my last bottle and Etude's phased this one out. I will have to search for my replacement moisturizer soon.
We've been together since: 2007

7. Serum - I used a serum only once a week but I know it should be like every night. I would still have to control how the oil produces on my skin that's why. But a serum is already a must for me as I've noticed. With the nature of my work, always out in the sun, smog, pollution, dirt, wind ( I don't just work in hotel preps in wedding alone ok!) plus I am not getting any younger, all the stress that can attribute to my face is not what I need on my big day.
We've been together since: 2011 (the day I turned 30 ;-p)

So how about you?
What are your current skin care regimen.
Care to share them too?
