Who owns what?

By Teri Cosenzi
"I know that a lot of the major beauty corporations own some of my favorite brands. I know about most of the Estee Lauder brands and that L'Oreal owns Lancome and about Procter & Gamble owning the likes of Covergirl and Olay, plus many more. I wanted to dig a little deeper and find out exaclty who own what, and not only was it fun, it was nice to know who owns what. It provides a bit of insight into the entire realm of the beauty industry.

Friday Night Date

Like almost every Friday I went out for a date with my man. Our plan was to check out the new dishes from one of our fave Spanish restaurant. Since I got more time to prepare today, Ive decided to go for “belle of the ball”, look: a classic smoky eye in black but this time with a twist or shall we say touch of Mitch’. I’ll tell you how you can do it too…

But how many different ways are there to do a smoky eye? Lots!If you're one of my Personal Makeup Super-course students, you already know that eye makeup technique doesn’t only vary widely, it can literally even change the appearance of your face. Here are the steps to adding a different twist to your smoky eye.

Let’s move on to eye make up once your face is totally made up (foundation, concealer, and powder)

-  Use a black smudge stick liner that's smooth and creamy. I like the one from STILA, because it's very easy to blend.

-  Make a thick line at the upper and lower lash roots. (It doesn't matter if it's straight, because we're going to blend this with a brush later on.)
-  Go back over the pencil to darken it and blend. The line doesn't need to be too thick, especially on the lower lid.

-  Once you've blended, define the crease by blending in this area. It's best if you blend just right in the crease, not too far above it, or you will make your eyes will look smaller.
-  Now apply a matte black shadow to the lid with a medium-sized brush to make the black even darker.

-  Once you've finished, apply an illuminating concealer just under the brow in place of shadow. (Touche Éclat by YSL is perfect for this.) If you've smudged the under eye area, you can clean this part and then apply the concealer there too. Blend with a clean, thick brush. You'll see how the area will be illuminated with a freshness that only a cream texture can provide.
-  Next, apply two coats of mascara.

-  Now it's time to make up the inside rim of your eyes with the black pencil. Try to make up the inner rim of the upper lid as well. Yes, I know it's hard... Another option is to line the lower part thoroughly and then bat your eyelashes so it rubs off on the upper lid.

-  I prefer to apply smudge stick liner after my mascara.

-  To finish up and add that unique touch like I did, use a medium brush to apply a bright-colored shadow over the black. I chose a navy blue from Bobbi Brown that gave me just a touch of color without changing the smoky effect. Apply the shadow right at the lash roots and lightly over the lid. You can use fuchsia, turquoise, or even gold or silver. You'll see - it will transform your smoky eye in just a minute.

-  Since this eye makeup look is fairly eye-catching, apply only a matte bronzing powder to your cheeks to add a little contour without adding much color, and use a clear gloss on your lips or ur handy dandy nude lipstick, I got my own fave that compliment my skintone, MAC Give me Liberty of London Peachstock. Try also MAC Brave New or Blankety.

I just love them all. Love STILA Smudge Sticks
My personal fave nude lipstick.

Enjoy a Chuckling Weekend.

Cinderella Baby

"If the Shoe Fits"

People that are really close to me know how picky I am with my dresses and my shoes. That’s just how I love them.
Not because it’s in season or everyone wears them, I’d join the bandwagon of “this too can fit attitude”, Id still go for the “ if the shoe fits” pov, if you know what I mean,
Not all style may look good on you, you may either look like an elephant, or a stamp pad if its not proportion to your body weigh, size, personality, clothes and over-all performance.
There’s a pair that caught almost all “shoetinistas” attention lately. Christina Aguilera’s Burlesque where Christian Louboutin custom made shoes for the movie, well again, if the shoe fits (this time your pocket) for a whopping $2495.

Be sure rent, insurance and other utilities are paid first ;-)

Love the fact that you are a Cinderella in your Chuckle world.

Starbucks Christmas Blend Last Day Campaign

Did you hear it out loud? It's their last day of campaign, which means, it’s about time to say goodbye to our 3 most loved holiday flavors - the Peppermint, Dark Cherry Mocha and the best-seller and my most favorite Toffee Nut.

Lucky you if you get to order one for yourself after the 5th, which means they still got stocks in the cupboard, if none, its time to switch to your  year-round regular drink.
It’s their last day today but sad to say Toffee Nut is OOS already, hey! I still have one day to enjoy them supposedly. So where is my toffee nut?

I have no choice but to go back to my regular mixed drink. In order for me to achieve the closest flavor to my toffee nut baby, I’d always go for my special mix and I’m sharing it this time.
Order a Coffee Frappucino, or make it Decaff if you prefer, then ask for a special shots. That’s an extra twenty bucks though ;-)

Half pump Hazelnut and Half pump Irish Crème. Take note both half pump each, else it would taste too strong if it were on full shots defeating the purpose of achieving your toffee nut subs.
Ask for some toffee nut sprinkles on top and viola! It’s a perfect frappuccino to complete your day for all toffee nut lovers.

My hubby was so brilliant and he got me my very own Toffee Nut sprinkles at home so I wont have to worry anything about that sweet nutty toffee taste.

Til Christmas 2011. Love. Love. Love. Starbucks

Holiday Beauty (part3)

Let me count the ways…

Most of us girls, woman, ladies, girlfriend, wife, mom, sister…. were very busy during the holidays in so many ways. Cooking at home, cleaning and preparing the house for visitors, gone shopping and carrying those shopping bags and gifts, doing groceries to fill in the cupboard and fridge and what we did was prepped, dressed up, fixed our hair for all the activities, and … ready up our hands.

Yes, hands. Ready up to accept gifts, hug a friend, shake hands, present a cake, hold our partners hand, pat a shoulder and worst slap a face, hahaha kiddin’ hope nobody did the latter during the holidays.

Spotted on a lot of women, seen in their Christmas parties or met them at the groceries again, sorry I am a mom, that’s part of my routine, -- are mulberry colors or reddish purplish nails or mostly the undying clean look French nails.

Favoring the matte colors for the holidays flatters a lot of girls lately and lavishing the hands with softeners. Remember we did a lot of activities, you don’t want to leave an impression when you handshake your friend or worst the person you slapped face, hahaha hope this didn’t, happened, that you... have coarse hands.

Careful with some hand creams, as some are a bit heavy on side. Look for some product that is a perfect antidote for your skin or palm.

Orly Nail Lacquers and Nail Vitamins are good. Suggest me one if you know other brands too.

L’Occitane Cherry blossom petal soft hand cream is good as it leaves a smooth film finish in your hands too.

Oilatium Soap are for those sensitive to fragrance and prone to allergies, this does not dry out your hands.

Got any chuckles lately? Let me know.

Admit it or not we all love idea of that, HHWW, so let us stay in love, love your hands.

Now go, check your palm, you will see how hardworking you were, try not to forget to protect them as well. Having that goddess like hands (soft, clean, and candle like shape) is not in the genes per se, its in your maintenance routine.

Raise your right hand and then swear to the goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that moving forward you will take care of your hands too then blew a flying kiss for beauty luck.

stay fab and awesome

Holiday Beauty 2

A/W Look: Wearable Beauty for the Holiday (2nd of the three installments)

'Tis the Season for Red Vivacious Lips.

Every lipstick babes are going crazy over red lips. While there are those who would just give it a smug, and gave lame excuses that maybe only fair-skinned girls can pull it off, or maybe they would end up looking like a big H. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.

Power of Three, basic statute in make up. It should not be a make up artist secret, nor anybody else alone, hence we have a saying “ignorantia legis neminem excusat” (ignorance of the law excuses no one). So always be mindful of that rule in make up.

Red Puckers are not just for someone but for everyone, as red lipstick look is timeless
Any season any reason, we just have to find that perfect red lip color that is perfect for our skin and everything becomes perfect.  Did I just mention perfect, too much? ;)

Red lipstick with blue undertones is suitable for fair skinned woman.

If you are olive or caramel skin toned, go for brown based or berry reds

Warm shade of reds is the best partner for morena as the color would stand out perfectly for them.

Really reds or red-red-red as they say can work for anyone, take note these are colors without the undertones of blue or yellow.

This season aint over yet and you aint got any excuse anymore for not having that perfect red vivacious smackers. Just don’t kiss and tell, leave a red kiss mark instead. ;-)

xoxo

Holiday Beauty

Happy 2011 to Everyone. Cheers to a fresh start, promising year for all of us.

So what were you sportin’ during the Holidays?
Were you the holiday glam girl? The fabulous chic? The rockin’ hottie? Or the sophisticated beauty?
I’m sure every one of you did great and looks awesome during the holidays.

So what was the cherry to the icing in your look? I mean how did you top off your get-up with your hair and make up?

I’ve been sharing many of times to gorgeous people in the planet what I’ve learned for this season – A/W Season look that majorly wins the audience.

For the first (of the three) installment, that “gun-metal” smoky eyes or the new “up in colored smoke” look.

Been practicing and sporting the look since the start of the season and perfected the way it complimented each different eye shapes before the holidays and got more than ten times the question if how did I achieved them. So here you go;

Glitzy and metallic are your two keyword for the look. Colors such as pewter, gold, bronze, gunmetal replaces the regular charcoal black. Putting eye shadow base helps better.

Also, try working on 2 or 3 shades in the same family for a softer and more wearable look, wearable means, looking fabulous while lining up at the grocery counter, or carrying a lot of shopping bags at the mall. Clue: Refer to the color wheel.

Up in Colored Smoke, is the newer and subtler smoky eye, using your favorite holiday. My fave pick to partner to all the colors for the season was midnight blue. Stay away from the panda blues, remember A/W goes for darker colors, set aside your bright, pearlescent or light reflecting colors. ;-) And my fave always, do not forget to apply shimmer on the inner corners of the eyes. To open it up and let that fab fab eyes shadow combination catch everyone’s attention, kohl-draw at your upper waterline and upper your lash growth then finish off with two coats of thickening mascara.

And you are ready for the 3W’s… WOW everyone with the WEARABLE new smoky and WELCOME 2011 looking fabulous.

Always remember the key to a clean finish of smoky eye is capital B… that is Blending!

And color the final color to your last application should always be M...no! Not Mitch… its matte!

Stay Gorgeous the entire 2011
